This poster image titled Tintin Homecoming is taken from the cover of Le Petit Vingtième number 48, for Thursday 28th November 1935. Now this drawing does not appear in any version of The Broken Ear but the smart collar up, belted raincoat and flat cap do. Its unique, it captures the essence of what Tintin represents, on the move, well turned out and smiling.

This adventure takes us to South America, first stopping in San Theordoros where things get a little scary to say the least. I cannot even write about it, I leave you to read from page 18 to the end of the adventure. Sorry but its so complicated I get dizzy just thinking what happened to poor Tintin and Snowy throughout the story. Okay we are used to him being got at on every page but this is much more.

What the youth who read the supplement of the Belgian newspaper Le Vingtième Siècle would have made of it all back in 1935 is thought provoking. Luckily Hergé’s illustration is so wonderful framed on your wall you will not be bothered by the shenanigans of Alonso and Ramon who get their …well went straight on down!
